Hello world! It’s the Taynors! We’re coming to you today from our headquarters in beautiful (besides all the construction!) Hilliard, OH. With much thought and determination, we’ve decided to start our very own family blog site! How wonderful! If you already know us and follow us on facebook or twitter, we’ll repeat some info that you may already know. For those of you without much interaction with us or who live long distances away, this is a perfect way to get filled in and caught up on what is going on in our lives and some things that are on our hearts that we feel like sharing! Andy will do most of the typing because….well I do most of the talking anyway! Holly will check in from time-to-time to fill you in on her perspective (which oddly enough differs from mine quite drastically). With that being said, if you’re still listening, let’s get you caught up to speed on a few things. #herewego
First off, for those of you who didn’t know, Holly is 29 weeks pregnant with our first baby! This is one of the main reasons for starting up a family blog, seeing as how we will be adding another member to the Taynor family in a couple short months! We are filled with so much joy and excitement with being soon-to-be parents! I know many of you are thinking right now, “How can Andy be a parent already when he is still a kid himself!” Ha! I thought the same thing myself at first! That’s why I’ve spent the past several months doing all that I can do to “prepare” myself as much as I can! I’ve really developed a stronger relationship with the Lord and spent many days and nights in prayer asking God to help develop me into the man and father I need to be for my baby and for my wife as my life is about to drastically change. I’ve really been convicted in many areas – like maturity, developing a stronger prayer life and also taking needed responsibility. I’ve also learned a lot of good advice and tips the past few months – like the difference between hunger and cravings! Or that a “belly-bump” isn’t something men do when their favorite football team scores a touchdown! I’ve also expanded my vocabulary to include phrases such as, “Hun, let me pick that up for you,” and “Yes, dear, you are right and I was wrong!” I’ve also learned the meaning of new words such as: placenta, midwife, onesie and lactation. I’ve learned the difference between 2nd trimester and 3rd trimester! I know I’m half-joking with some of these, but it has been quite an experience and learning process! #Lordhelp!
Ever since people have found out that we were expecting, questions arose about whether or not we’d find out the gender or if we knew yet what the gender of our baby was. The answer to that is that we are proud to announce that we are having a……..….hahaha yea, right…like we’re going to spill the beans here on the internet! We’ve chosen to keep it a surprise to us and to the world until that miraculous moment when our baby enters the world for the first time and takes his/her first breath! What a special moment that will be! We’ve had a lot of people who are excited that we are waiting to find out, and a lot of people who have given us flack or have been astonished that we would do such a thing. “How could ANYONE not find OUT! That would KILL me!” First – has anyone ever really been killed by not finding out? Second, what did people used to do back in the day before modern technology? We’ve chosen to wait and not find out so that we can share such a special moment together here in a few months. We will cherish that moment forever! #worththewait
Many of our days in the past couple weeks have been filled with preparing for Holly’s baby shower. My part in that is driving Holly around from store to store and caring a lot of bags filled with different decorations and what not (and why not add some trips to clothing stores to get some new maternity clothes while we’re at it)! But, Holly has been doing a lot of prep work and planning with our moms and sisters for that big day coming up this weekend. I know everything will turn out perfect, because that’s the way everything turns out that Holly does or has a part in! ;) (If you’re scoring at home, that’s worth 2 brownie points, but I’m still in the hole for a few early comments). #t-minus5days
So, now that we’ve gotten the rest of you up to speed; I guess there’s not much else to say except BRING ON THE FALL!!!! This is our favorite time of year for so many reasons! The biggest of course is OSU football season! (Even though we’ve looked poorly in ½ of our games so far). But, with the emergence of Braxton Miller starting at QB, the games will at least be more exciting from now till the end of the season! I like Fickell, but would love to see my man-crush, Urban Meyer, take the reins of THE Ohio State University football team next season!! Anyway, we also love fall because of the weather, the changing of the seasons, the fall colors of browns, oranges, auburns and such, pumpkin flavored everything, and of course our favorite holiday, Thanksgiving! #gobblegobble
Well, that’s about it for now! Until next time, keep smiling, stay positive, and everything will be ok! J #moretocome
P.S. - Every blog entry we make, we will end with a “quote of the blog.” They will consist of success principles, motivation, humor (or at least my definition of it), bible verses or something funny we heard or said recently.
